Thousands of people crowded around the Fort Langley war memorial Wednesday morning for the annual Remembrance Day ceremony.
This year, the event also marked the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Holland by Canadian troops during World War Two.
People of all ages attended, including several dignitaries who took part in the formal wreath-laying ceremony.
Among them were local MP Mark Warawa, Township mayor Jack Froese with councillors Blair Whitmarsh, Michelle Sparrow and David Davis, Langley RCMP Supt. Murray Power and Kwantlen Fisrt Nation chief Marilyn Gabriel.
At the close, people were invited to add the poppies they wore to the monument as their own personal ceremony.
Hundreds did.
