Thousands of people, many of whom were proudly dressed in red and white, lined the route for the Prospera Credit Union Canada Day Parade.

The event highlighted a series of day-long activities to mark Canada’s 144th birthday. This year’s parade was filled with a mixture of marching bands, colourful floats and representative groups from many countries. The day started with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Optimist Club.

Following the parade, families converged on Exhibition Park, where an array of activities and displays had been set up. Events included stage entertainment, markets, hayrides and both community and commercial booths.

The official opening ceremony included the unveiling of the Abbotsford Tartan and the honouring of those inducted into the Order of Abbotsford. The finale to the day’s events was a giant fireworks display.

The community of Mt. Lehman also hosted a parade and breakfast in honour of Canada Day.
