Threat that caused hospital lockdown results in probation

NANAIMO – Craig Bryan Carter plead guilty to charges.

The man charged in relation to the August lockdown of Nanaimo Regional General Hospital has been given a conditional discharge and one-year probation.

Craig Bryan Carter, 39 at the time of the incident, was charged with uttering a threat to cause death or bodily harm to staff at the hospital and subsequently entered a guilty plea, Crown counsel spokesman Neil MacKenzie said.

According to his probation conditions, Carter must abstain from owning or carrying weapons or imitations of weapons, abstain from alcohol or any other intoxicating substances and must report to the Nanaimo Mental Health Centre, if directed by his spouse or probation officer, according to B.C. court services in Nanaimo.
