Three people are lucky to be alive after a dramatic semi-trailer crash that shut down Highway 10 for three hours Wednesday morning.
At about 6:45 a.m., a semi-tractor trailer was heading westbound on Highway 10, while an eastbound commercial van was waiting at the corner of the highway waiting to turn left onto 168 Street.
Police say the van was in the intersection on the green light, and proceeded to turn as the light went red.
The semi, Mounties say, failed to stop and collided with the van.
The truck’s back end swerved around and tipped on it side.
The driver and passenger of the truck, along with the passenger of the van, suffered minor upper body injuries, and were taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
Traffic was held up in the area for most of the morning.
A charge under the motor vehicle act is expected against the truck driver.
