It was bumper-to-bumper-to-bumper traffic.

At approximately 10:15 a.m. on Friday, March 26, Oceanside RCMP attended a three-vehicle collision along the Alberni Highway between Smithers Road and Place Road, across from Weather-Wise Cedar Products.

The Parksville Volunteer Fire Department was also in attendance, and firefighters directed both eastbound and westbound traffic into a single-lane around the collision scene.

Cpl. Jesse Foreman of the Oceanside RCMP told PQB News the three-vehicle collision started when the first vehicle in line stopped to make a legal left turn and had to wait for a clearing in traffic. The third vehicle’s operator was unable to stop in time and caused a chain reaction of collisions, said Foreman.

He also confirmed that one woman was taken to the hospital via ambulance for an abrasion on her head. Overall, there did not appear to be any serious injuries. There had been no indication of intoxication or criminality. Charges were not issued.

Traffic was clear and resumed as normal before noon.
