Police say a toddler is expected to be fine after falling from a third-floor window and landing on a second-floor balcony in Surrey on Sunday.

The three-year-old boy fell from the window of a Surrey townhouse in the 15100-block of 62A Avenue at about 1:30 p.m. yesterday.

While he was taken to hospital by ambulance with just minor injuries, police warn the public to be vigilant when it comes to open windows and children.

“There should never be the ability for a child to climb up to a windowsill in front of a window,” said Surrey RCMP Corporal Scotty Schumann. “It’s important for people to clear furniture away from those. If that’s not a possibility then the window should be locked.”
