Two Elk Valley kids will get to go to camp this summer after another successful camp day at Tim Hortons in Fernie.
Volunteers from the community helped out on Wednesday, making coffee, cleaning tables and serving at the drive-thru window.
All coffee sales went towards the Camp Day cause.
In total, over $3,700 was raised which will send Isabella Dicken Elementary School kids Taylor Robson, 10 and Dakota Armstrong, 10 to Kananaskis Children’s Ranch from August 10 to 19 this year.
Kristine Hovind-Pelletier, owner of Tim Hortons in Fernie, said the day was really successful.
“What a mess the weather was! But we actually still did quite well considering we couldn’t do a couple of our larger outdoor fundraising events because of the rain,” she said.
Camp day is the one-day a year when Tim Hortons restaurant owners across Canada and the United States donate every penny from coffee sales to the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation. Last year, camp day raised more than $9.7 million.
The proceeds send kids, who could otherwise not afford it, on a camping trip of a lifetime.
