Members of the public are invited to include their names in a time capsule, which will be buried beneath the new market in Fort Langley. Construction on the store replacing the IGA, which burned down in January, 2011, begins on Monday.

In a matter of days, concrete will be poured for the floors of the new grocery store in Fort Langley.

At 2 p.m. on Saturday, the public can take part in a ceremony in which a time capsule will be buried. On Monday, the concrete will be poured.

Residents and Fort Langley neighbours will be invited to sign a guest book, the pages of which will be placed in the capsule.

The grocery store replaces the IGA supermarket which was destroyed by fire in January, 2011. The new building is being erected on the site of the parking lot. It is expected to open in the autumn.

Mayor Jack Froese will join the Lee family, owners of several IGA stores, in the ceremony to bury the time capsule, which will remain in place for as long as the building stands.

Refreshments will be served.
