Interested in running to be on Clearwater’s town council?
A guide for prospective candidates is now available on the District of Clearwater website and nomination packages can be picked up at the District’s office.
The nomination period begins on Oct. 4 and closes on Oct. 14. An advance poll will be held Nov. 9 with general voting day on Nov. 19.
If elected, you will be on council for three years.
Being a municipal council member requires a significant time commitment. There are usually two regular council meetings per month for municipal councils plus you may be asked to sit on special committees, boards or commissions that also require significant time.
Pay for the mayor is about $17,000 per year while councilors receive close to $9,000.
