Even 20 years since the little boy’s mysterious disappearance from a Victoria playground, tips continue to pour in to police about Michael Dunahee’s whereabouts.

“We are really encouraged by the information coming forward,” said Det. Daryl Baswick with Victoria Police Department, in a press release. “Sometimes it’s just one tip, or one piece of information that can help provide that break in the case, and we hope the public continues to call our tip line.”

Since Michael’s mother Crystal spoke out Wednesday, the day before the 20th anniversary of her son’s disappearance, Victoria police recorded for than 50 tips from callers from across North America.

Officers will investigate those tips in an effort to find Michael, who would now be 24.

In total, police have received more than 10,000 tips about the boy’s disappearance since the day he vanished from Blanshard elementary school – which is now University Canada West, on Kings Road – on March 24, 1991. Michael was four at the time.

Of those tips, more than 500 have come in the past five years.

A $100,000 reward is still being offered to anyone who provides information that brings Michael.

Crystal Dunahee’s plea for information Wednesday was as emotional as the day her boy disappeared.

“Someone knows who took Michael,” she said with tears in her eyes.

Anyone with information can call VicPD’s designated tip line at 250-995-7444 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
