All Tofino Co-op stores (Grocery, Gas Bar, Hardware and Clothing) will remain open as they navigate heightened concerns brought on by an employee testing positive for COVID-19.
Tofino Co-op human resources advisor Susan van Dalen told the Westerly on Aug. 27, 2021 that the employee has been isolated for some time, has mild symptoms, and that Vancouver Island Health Authority has completed their contact tracing.
“We don’t want to cause fear, but we wanted to quash any rumours and be upfront and let everyone know what’s going on,” said van Dalen.
General manager Mike Tomilin circulated a press release to ease concerns of Tofino residents.
“We have and will continue to follow all safety precautions as per Worksafe BC COVID-19 guidelines, along with BC Provincial Health Orders,” Tomilin said in the press release.
“As an essential service, our priority remains supplying this community while keeping our employees, customers and communities safe and healthy. We thank our customers and community members for supporting us as we all take the necessary precautions during this time. We’re all in this together,” he said.
