If you like good food and drink, and the cheer of good company, check out Tourism Cowichan’s “Sip, Savour, Support Cowichan” campaign that is being launched on Jan. 29.

There are 16 restaurants participating in the “Savour” portion of the campaign, and 10 craft beverage producers in the “Sip” part.

The restaurants include Fox and Hounds, Sawmill, Farm Table Inn, Bridgemans Bistro, Ironworks Creperie, Ma Maison, Merridale, Old Firehouse, The Ainslie, Villa Eyrie Alpina, River Rock, Old Fork, The Lakehouse, Holy Cow, Cow Cafe West Coast Grill and The Masthead.

The beverage producers include Stillhead Distillery, Averill Creek Vineyard, Red Arrow Brewing, Cherry Point Winery, Riot Brewing, Merridale Cidery & Distillery, Blue Grouse Winery, Unsworth Winery, Enrico Winery, and Small Block Brewing.

Visit www.tourismcowichan.com/savour for more information and a full list of participating businesses.

“Our restaurants and craft beverage makers need your influence, your thanks and your patronage now more than ever,” a release about the campaign said.

“Take a seat at our tables, pull up a chair or a stool and embark on a taste journey that is a world away from ordinary, but available right here and now. Cowichan Valley’s Sip, Savour Support campaign celebrates the dining and tasting experience that makes Cowichan great, and asks you to support your neighbours through patronage when they need you the most.”

Participants in the campaign are encouraged to purchase a Cowichan Craft Tasting Passport online at tourismcowichan.com/savour and go to the participating businesses listed on the passport for a self-guided tour between Jan. 29 and March 31.

“Leave your completed passport at your last stop to enter to win a year of free meals at Cowichan Valley restaurants,” the release said.

“From Jan. 29 to Feb. 28, we’ll recommend the must-eat meals for dine-in or takeout from across the Valley by featuring a dozen signature dishes that are iconic to, and best enjoyed, in the Cowichan Valley. Each time you visit a participating restaurant to enjoy their signature dish, you can enter to win a year of free meals by snapping a photo of the dish and posting it on social media using the hashtag #CowichanTasteMakers.”

Tourism Cowichan’s Jill Nessel said the campaign is working alongside Duncan Cowichan Chamber of Commerce’s Cowichan Dine & Sip campaign which operates in March.

“The events may have similar participants, but will offer different experiences for locals to enjoy, encouraging multiple visits over the next few months,” she said
