Tourism White Rock is eyeing adding promotional signage to the busy thoroughfares surrounding the city as one of the initiatives to draw in tourists.
During a presentation at White Rock Council last week, executive director Betina Albornoz told mayor and council that more than 10,000 commuters pass by White Rock each day, with many not realizing all the city has to offer.
“We risk being the best kept secret in town,” she said. “And I don’t think we can afford that.”
During her Feb. 2 presentation, Albornoz showed a mock-up of different signage that indicated the city’s hot spots, including the pier and promenade, noting that signage is at the top of the priorities list for Tourism White Rock.
“This is the time, more than ever before, to continue to invest in our industry and continue to invest in our organization, so we can continue to deliver on what we do best,” she said.
Council voted unanimously to receive the information, lauding the work of Albornoz and the volunteers with White Rock Tourism.
