Tourist breaks ankle at Goldstream Park

After slipping on some rocks at Goldstream Park, a man in his 50s was left with a broken ankle.

After slipping on some rocks at Goldstream Park, a man in his 50s was left with a broken ankle.

Langford Fire Rescue was called in by B.C. Ambulance  at 1:30 p.m., Sept. 13 to help carry the man out.

The injured man had walked to the base of the waterfall and slipped on a rock in the stream, even though he was wearing proper hiking footwear, said Capt. Chris Aubrey with Langford Fire Rescue.

Six firefighters and two paramedics helped transport the man in a basket stretcher to the waiting ambulance on the side of the Trans Canada Highway.

The injured man was from Calgary and was then taken to Victoria General Hospital.
