QUALICUM BEACH —

The damage is done, the mess is cleaned up, and now town council is being asked to take the next step in dealing with the impact from the severe wind storms of 2006.

In a report to council this week, the town’s parks and recreation commission noted the storms wreaked significant havoc in Community Park, opening up one area to expose two nature trails that were once shielded from each other by trees that are now laying on the ground. They urged council to approve staff to facilitate and supervise tree planting by commission members in the area that suffered the damage, located south of the field in the Community Park, adjacent to the off-leash and nature trails. Council had not made a decision at press time. — The News
