North Okanagan residents can check out a movie shot right in their backyard.
Blackway will open at the Vernon Towne Cinema Friday at 7 p.m.
“Vernon gets to screen the theatre premiere of this Hollywood movie starring Anthony Hopkins,” said Gerry Sellars, Towne Cinema owner.
At the Towne screening, local filmmaker Jim Elderton will introduce the show.
Also there will be Rob Lindlay, a local crew member who worked throughout the film.
“He will talk about the shoot, including the studio scenes in Vernon,” said Sellars.
A studio was established inside Forge Valley Storage and sets were built on both floors, to include a motel room, a meth lab and a biker bar.
It was Lindlay’s job to fill the sets with all of the furniture, props and tiny details needed to make them look real.
Along with Hopkins, Blackway also stars Ray Liotta, Julia Stiles and Alexander Ludwig.
It was produced by Enderby native Rick Dugdale.
Advance tickets for the Vernon Towne Cinema opening (at normal prices and with a wine bar) are at the theatre and the Bean Scene.
