Toy Run roars through Valley

More than 500 bikers rode from Little Qualicum Falls through Port Alberni and around the fountain at the Harbour Quay.

Slick roads might have slowed down the motorcyclists but they didn’t dampen the spirits of Toy Run organizers and supporters. Over 500 bikes took part in the event, riding from Little Qualicum Falls into Port Alberni on Sunday.

“It went really well although of course numbers were down because of the rain,” said Port Alberni Toy Run chair David Wiwchar.

“We still had more than 500 bikes show up and raised a lot of money for charity and brought in a lot of toys for kids at Christmas.”

While bike numbers were down, Wiwchar said that the community’ s support was as full-on as always.

“The community was as fantastic as always,” he said.

“We really appreciate the support from our sponsors, the community and the city.”
