An accident near the bottom of Warfield Hill on Friday resulted in a fatality.
Police report a 28-year old woman was tragically killed that afternoon when her vehicle lost control and hit another car.
The accident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 16, noted Cpl. Chad Badry from the West Kootenay Traffic Services.
“A southbound two-door coupe lost control on compact snow and sand as it was legally passing another vehicle coming down Highway 3B,” Badry wrote in a Saturday news release. “The two-door coupe spun around and hit a northbound four-door sedan head on with the back of the coupe.”
The female driver was transported to Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the four-door sedan was a 40-year old woman. She received minor injuries, according to police, and was transported to KBRH, treated and released.
West Kootenay Traffic Services, an RCMP Traffic Reconstructionist, the Trail RCMP and the BC Coroner Service closed down the highway for approximately four hours while they conducted an investigation of the crash.
Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Service and BC Ambulance attended and provided invaluable assistance to all involved. added Badry.
The name of the deceased is not being released at this time out of respect for the family.
