1 – With the holiday season right around the corner, a series of weekend check stops took 18 impaired drivers off local roads.
3 – Jeff Bruce, a Trail man, tracks down thieves who stole wallets from his vehicle. One escapes but he takes the second alleged thief to the police station in hopes that the person can turn their life around.
7 – After evading capture three times, Ishmani Baker is tracked down by police and a police dog on a rural property on Columbia Gardens Road. Baker had un-endorsed warrants in Fort St. John. At the time of his capture, police around recovered several items stolen from the Kaslo area.
10 – Trail council gave the green light to four cannabis retail outlets in the city. A fifth application is also in the works but hasn’t been considered by council.
10 – Council awards a $450,000 contract to Canada West Refrigeration to replace two chillers, use for ice making, in the arena. The work is expected to be completed over the summer in time for the next hockey season.
13 – After 30 years the Artisan craft store is shutting down at the end of January.
16 – Another Trail resident does their part to stem the petty crime wave as the citizen captured a male going through his vehicle and holds him until police arrive.
18 – Trail RCMP say stricter drunk driving laws, which go into effect today, will help take more impaired drivers off the road.
19 – Chatelaine magazine listed Trail’s Royal Theatre as one of the 10 best movie theatres in Canada.
20 – The Silver City Trap Club is building a reptile sanctuary to protect native species such as the rubber boa and western skink.
23 – Firefighters extinguish an East Trail fire and rescue a dog after “unattended cooking” caused the fire. Nobody was injured in the blaze.
