Trans-Canada Highway closed due to fatal accident

One person was killed and another seriously injured in a two vehicle collision at approximately 8 a.m.

As of 11:57 a.m., the Trans-Canada Highway is re-opened in both directions following a a fatal accident at the Salmon River Bridge, which occurred at 8 a.m. this morning, Saturday, March 5.

One person was killed and another seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision at approximately 8 a.m.

The injured man was airlifted by helicopter to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. His condition is not known.

The injured man had to be removed from the wreckage of his truck with the assistance of the Salmon Arm Rescue Unit and the Salmon Arm Fire Department.

The person in the other vehicle died at the scene.

The RCMP is also on scene investigating the circumstances of the collision. It was raining and the roads were wet at the time of the crash.
