The Trans-Canada Highway will be closed for three hours Wednesday afternoon west of Revelstoke while crews install new avalanche control systems at Three Valley Gap.

The Ministry of Transportation says the closure will take place from nine kilometres west of Revelstoke to 43 kilometres east of Sicamous on April 26 from 2-5 p.m.

The closure takes place while the ministry installs new Remote Avalanche Control Systems at Three Valley Gap.

Wyssen Avalanche Control installed the first four of eight towers last summer and is installing the rest this spring.

The towers allow technicians to conduct avalanche control remotely, instead of having to fly up in helicopters.
