The Trails to the Boundary Society has received notification from Recreation Sites and Trails BC that the fire affected portion of the Trans Canada Trail/KVR is open north of Rock Creek.
The danger tree assessment has been completed along the Trans Canada Trail/KVR, however there has been no assessments done beyond the rail grade.
The fire severity in the area makes it very important for users to STAY ON THE TRAIL because soil disturbance by recreation users will unnecessarily slow down the natural succession of post fire recovery and introduce invasive species.
Kettle River Provincial Park/Recreation Area remains closed, however the Trans-Canada Trail/KVR rail trail transits it. This may be confusing to some trail users, but as long as they stay on the trail, they’ll be okay.
