Trees can exist in urban setting

Re: Take out trees on highway, stop planting I would like to respond to Mr. Binders comments on the Urban Forest Strategy.

There are a multitude of options when it comes to appropriate trees and the saying that is often quoted is “right tree right place” It might come as news to him that bike lanes and trees can exist happily together and I do not need to harp on about the benefits of trees in our environment: it’s already established facts.

Surely business signs and trees can also co-exist?

I am curious about the low maintenance (I’m skeptical of the two words low maintenance), low cost evergreens he mentions and how appropriate they would be in an urban environment.
