A young man accused of attacking his mother with a hammer, causing fatal injuries, has been ordered to stand trial.

The decision was made Tuesday, after about a week of testimony at Conor Frederick Grossmith’s preliminary hearing.

The hearing was held to determine if there was enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial.  Evidence presented at the preliminary hearing was subject to a publication ban.

Grossmith is accused of attacking his mother, 57-year-old Kate Gilchrist, in her Kelowna home on Sept. 13, 2012. She died nine days later, leading to Grossmith, now 25, being charged with murder.
