A 34-year-old Chilliwack man was arrested outside the Langley City 7-Eleven after speeding through Langley in a stolen pickup truck and yelling at pedestrians, before ramming a garbage bin on Tuesday.
The angry truck thief was arrested in front of dozens of onlookers.
Around 6:20 p.m., Langley RCMP were called about a suspicious truck travelling at a high rate of speed, with the driver screaming at pedestrians.
The driver continued to yell at people and then rammed the truck into a dumpster near the convenience store, said police. By then, officers in several police cruisers and an unmarked SUV had arrived to make the arrest.
After some resistance and continued yelling, a 34-year-old Chilliwack man was arrested. He was expected to appear in court on Wednesday, facing charges of possession of stolen property and breaching his probation.
The vehicle suffered extensive damage from its collision with the dumpster, said police. The pickup truck was stolen in Chilliwack, said Langley RCMP Cpl. Holly Largy.
The suspect is also prohibited from driving, Largy said.
