Truck trying to stop for accident goes off road

TERRACE RCMP say both Ford trucks ended up in ditch near airport on Hwy 37 South.

TERRACE RCMP responded to approximately 72 calls for service from November 18, 8 a.m. till November 21, 8 a.m.

A white 2009 Chevrolet Silverado was pulled over on Clark St./Paquette Ave. on Monday morning. The 54-year-old driver provided a sample into a roadside screening device that resulted in a fail. She was arrested for impaired driving and provided two more samples of breath at the detachment. Charges are not being forwarded to Crown Counsel. She was served an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle she was driving was impounded.

A grey 2005 Toyota Corolla travelling east on Keith Ave. collided with a green 1995 Pontiac travelling west on Keith Ave. The Toyota was making a left hand turn into the parking lot of Sight and Sound. Damage was minimal to the bumpers. No injuries. Road conditions were poor with snow and ice.

A beige 1995 Ford Windstar minivan parked in the middle of a front lawn on Gitselasu St. with its lights on. Police determined that the vehicle was stolen. Under investigation.

A black 2008 Ford Ranger lost control on icy snow covered roads 7 km south of the airport on Hwy 37 and hit the ditch, causing the vehicle to flip onto its side. A red 2010 Ford Ranger that was attempting to stop for this incident lost control and hit the ditch on the other side, rolling over. No injuries in either incident.

A white/grey 2000 Chevrolet truck lost control on Hwy 37 just north of Furlong Bay Campground and hit the ditch, ending up on its roof. No injuries.

A blue 2007 Chevrolet truck was pulled over near the Mount Layton Hot Springs on Hwy 37. The 31-year-old driver provided two samples of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in warns. He was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.

Stalking investigation.

A door and several windows of a shed on Pear St. were damaged.

A blue 2001 Nissan hit the ditch and sustained major damage on Hwy 37 near Waterlily Bay. The 66-year[-old driver suffered minor injuries. The 62-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries. Both were transported by BC Ambulance to hospital.

A white 1998 Honda Civic was pulled over on Walsh Ave. The 23-year-old driver provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in a fail. She was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle she was driving was impounded.

Dispute over property at McDonald’s. A woman intervened and was stabbed with an object. Injuries were minor. Police arrested a 39-year-old man. Under investigation.

A white Jeep YR lost control on Hwy 37 near the Water Lily Bay, hit the ditch, and rolled at least twice. The 41-year-old driver was the lone occupant and was bounced around inside of the vehicle. He was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

A man lent his debit card to purchase alcohol, also providing his pin. The card was used to purchase much more than alcohol. Under investigation.

Intoxicated man refusing to leave the Terrace Public Library. Police located the man a short distance away and arrested him for breaching the condition of not to consume liquor. Frank Bennett, 40, has been charged with failing to comply with probation and failing to comply with undertaking. He is held for court.

Missing 13-year-old girl. Runaway.

A green Ford Fiesta was pulled over in a parking lot on Thornhill St. The 50-year-old driver provided two samples of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in fails. She was served an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle she was driving was impounded.
