The annual Turkey Shoot brought a good crowd at the North Arm Pub in Fort St. James on Oct 2, inviting everyone to try their hand at darts.

Various prizes were up for grabs including: gift certificates from Sana’aih Market, a dash camera donated from BNK, a case of oil from Northlands and a load of gravel from Yellowhead Road and Bridge.

All proceeds from the fundraiser support the Stuart Lake Hospital Auxiliary which has just celebrated their 50th anniversary this year.

The auxiliary raises funds to make and supply equipment for the hospital. “It’s all about patient care and comfort, that’s our mission,” Julie-Ann Mortenson, president of the auxiliary said.

The 24 member auxiliary also looks after the hospital gardens, supplies bursaries at the high school and has also purchased a bus for the Seniors Helping Seniors Program.

The auxiliary has also been raising funds for a portable ultrasound machine to be used by the physicians in the emergency department at Stuart Lake Hospital.

The Turkey Shoot continued to draw our many throughout the day and the auxiliary is thankful for all of the support received from the community.

“The event is a success every year,” said Sherry Nielsen, long-time member of the auxiliary said.  “This is our largest fundraiser.”
