Two arrested for assaulting police officers

New Hazelton responded to 99  calls during the past week.

June 19

Police responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle accident in Glen Vowell. The driver hit a telephone pole. No injuries and alcohol was not a factor.

June 21

Police located an intoxicated female at Ksan Point. The female tried to hide from the police and when located gave a false name. The female was identified and arrested for obstruction and breaching her curfew and alcohol conditions.

June 22

Police were called to a motor vehicle accident near the Hagwilget bridge. A driver of a van hit a parked truck at the side of the road. No alcohol was involved. The driver was transported to the hospital as he was having an anxiety attack.

June 23

A vehicle was located stopped in Two Mile with the hazard lights turned on. The police approached the vehicle and located three  females. While at the scene, one of the females punched another female and was arrested. The female then assaulted the police officer. The third female ran towards the police officer with her fists clenched and was also arrested for assaulting a police officer.

June 24

RCMP attended a two vehicle collision on Highway 16 near the village of Gitsegukla. A witness stated that the one vehicle was swerving on the road and crossing the center line of the highway. The vehicle then went into the opposite lane colliding with another vehicle. Three people were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of one vehicle was found to be intoxicated and police are pursuing impaired charges.
