The Penticton RCMP Targeted Enforcement Unit arrested a 24-year-old male and 22-year-old female after conducting a traffic stop on July 22. The two were arrested for firearm related offences. Later that day a search warrant was executed at a residence on Calgary Avenue, where police discovered a 12-gauge shotgun. The female was released without charges.
Seamus Ronald Kirby, 24, is facing charges of possessing a firearm knowing it is unauthorized, possession of a firearm contrary to a court order and careless use and storage of a firearm. Kirby appeared in Penticton Provincial Court on Aug. 3 where he was remanded by consent.
Kirby spent just over two months in custody after he was arrested in December, 2015 and pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and breaking into the Twin Lakes Golf Course in November, 2015.
Kirby returns to court for a bail hearing on Aug. 17.
