A red pickup truck smashed through the front of the SuperSave gas station on 24 Avenue and 200 Street in an attempt to steal the ATM inside on Sunday morning.
According to Langley RCMP, this was the thieves’ second attempt of the night to take an ATM. Both times the men didn’t succeed.
Two male suspects used a stolen truck to smash through the security gate of the front of the store.
One of the thieves attached a garden hose between the ATM and the truck and attempted to detach the ATM from the floor, but the hose snapped. The truck was then driven through the front of the business, where it became stuck.
The culprits fled on foot, empty-handed for a second time that morning, said Langley RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Holly Marks.
Lower Mainland Police Dog Services weren’t able to establish a track.
The first attempt was reported at 3:30 a.m. In this instance, two men are suspected of securing their vehicle to the store door’s gate at the Shell gas station near 40 Avenue and 208 Street. The gate was pulled from the frame and one of the two suspects threw a rock through the front door, shattering the glass.
The two men attempted to take the ATM machine with a dolly. Despite their attempts, they left empty-handed.
The vehicle used appears to be a blue Dodge Dakota, which had likely been stolen, said Marks.
