A two-car collision took place on Monday just before noon at the intersection of Sumas Way and Lonzo Road.

The drivers of two vehicles involved in a crash on Monday at the intersection of Lonzo Road and Sumas Way were taken to hospital with minor injuries and released later that day.

The collision took place at about 11:45 a.m. and involved a Chevy Alero and a Volkswagen Beetle.

Const. Paul Walker said the Alero was travelling north on Sumas Way, attempting to make a left turn on to Lonzo Road when it collided with the southbound Beetle.

The driver of the Alero was given a ticket for failing to yield on a left turn, Walker said.

The crash blocked the southbound lanes, resulting in cars being diverted onto DeLair Road for about an hour and causing major traffic delays in the area.

Traffic was also blocked eastbound on Lonzo Road.

An air ambulance was initially called to the scene, but was called off after it was determined that the injuries sustained by one of the drivers were not as serious as first thought.
