Agassiz-Harrison recorded two cases of COVID-19 during the first week of June.
According to the latest data release from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control, All of the local health areas within Fraser Health experienced additional COVID-19 cases, despite surrounding portions of Vancouver Coastal and Interior Health experiencing zero-case weeks from May 30 to June 5.
Agassiz-Harrison has been in single-digit cases for the past five weeks. May has been the best month so far this year with only eight COVID-19 cases; an entire month’s worth of COVID cases was slightly higher than the 2021 running weekly average of about 7.1 cases.
So far in 2021, there have been 157 reported cases of COVID-19 in the Agassiz-Harrison area.

Fraser Health is currently handling an outbreak at Glenwood Care Centre, which will likely affect next week’s data release. The outbreak declared on June 5 is second of the year at the same facility – the first was reported on Jan. 27 and it was declared over on Feb. 10. In this most recent outbreak, two residents and one staff member have tested positive.
The Glenwood Care Centre outbreak is one of two outbreaks listed on the Fraser Health website as of publication.

There has not been an exposure event in local schools since January.
As of Monday (June 7), Agassiz-Harrison has reached the 70 per cent threshold for adults aged 18 and older receiving their vaccine. 82 per cent of local adults aged 50 and older have received a vaccine. 68 per cent of Agassiz-Harrison residents over the age of 12 have been vaccinated.
