The investigation continues into a suspicious, fatal trailer home fire in Mission that left one person dead and, according to witnesses, two children taken to hospital.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called in by Mission RCMP on Friday morning after a body was discovered in the burned out remains of the home.
While police have released few facts, witnesses have reported seeing two children escape out of the back of the mobile home, with their hands zip-tied together. Witnesses say the two were taken by ambulance to hospital.
According to residents, a mother and two children did live at the burned home, but no identifications have been released by police.
IHIT media spokesperson Sgt. Stephanie Ashton told reporters they consider this to be a targeted attack and don’t believe there is any public risk.
Police are currently looking for a suspect.
Police have not released any information on how the fire started.
The blaze took place on Friday morning at about 3 a.m. at the Green Acres mobile home park on Shook Road.
When firefighters arrived, the building was fully engulfed.
