A Golden couple is facing several charges after tips from two other Golden residents led to a joint investigation between RCMP in Golden and Canmore.
One tipster went above and beyond advertising the theft of a friend’s generator from a business in Golden on August 6,
says Cst. Spencer Lainchbury, with the Golden-Field RCMP. We then received additional information from another male who noticed a similar generator had been posted for sale in Canmore.
The following afternoon, a meeting to purchase the item was set up in Canmore where police in that town were able to swoop in on the suspects, recovering what’s believed to be the stolen generator.
Canmore RCMP also allege that the two were also in possession of a stolen pickup from Golden, which had yet to be reported, and a number of tools used for break and enters.
Sometimes all we need is that one piece of information from someone to bring everything together, which is what we saw here, so we really want to thank the two community members that worked to provide this information to us.
Randall Larrabee, a 25 year old from Golden has been charged in Canmore with:- Possession of Stolen Property for the purpose of trafficking;- Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000;- Possession of Break-In tools;- Two counts of Breach of Probation;- One count of Breach of Recognizance.
Robyn Belcher, a 27 year-old from Golden has also been charged with:- Possession of Stolen Property for the purpose of trafficking;- Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000;- Possession of Break-In tools;- Breach Probation.
The Golden-Field RCMP are also confirming that Larrabee is currently awaiting trial in Golden on other theft charges, in addition to breaching a court order, possession of stolen firearms, and possession of methamphetamine; while Belcher is awaiting trial on other unrelated theft charges.
Police note that none of the above allegations have been proven in court.
