Two hours of festivities kick off Canada Day weekend Friday in Oak Bay.
Recreation Oak Bay hosts its eighth annual free Celebrate Canada event on the front lawn of the Oak Bay municipal hall on June 30 from noon to 2 p.m.
Featuring the standard fare bouncy castle, tennis and golf games, button making and festive food including cupcakes, hot dogs and snow cones.
Oak Bay police and fire departments will have their vehicles on hand and the Monterey Ukelele Club will entertain.
Started in 2010, the event is a great way to celebrate both local community and Canada Day and has grown to a popular community event where families with young children to retirees enjoy the activities..
For the kids, there’s the bouncy castle, a button-making craft table and water fun table, in addition to “active” activities, like fun tennis and golf stations.
Oak Bay police and firefighters are also expected to drop by for a visit.
The party continues at Willows Park, when Impulse Response performs R&B and soul to kick off Oak Bay’s free Summer Concert Series at 6:30 p.m.
