Two teens have suffered serious injuries after the vehicle they were in collided with a school bus Wednesday afternoon.

The accident occurred around 2 p.m. on Chief Lake Road near Ness Lake Road. There were 10 children on the bus plus the driver, none of whom were injured.

Police say the two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions on Chief Lake Road. It was snowing heavily at the time. The driver of car, an 18-year-old man, lost control of his Chevrolet Cavalier, which spun out in front of the bus. The bus driver managed to stop the bus before the collision occurred.

The man and his passenger, a 16-year-old girl, both had to be extricated from the vehicle and transported to the University Hospital of Northern B.C. where they are listed in serious condition.

Police say the weather conditions are believed to have been a contributing factor in this collision, however the investigation continues to find out the cause for the loss of control.
