Two individuals were arrested this afternoon after West Shore RCMP executed a search warrant at a medical marijuana dispensary in the 600 block of Granderson Rd in Langford.
Police seized an undisclosed amount of marijuana products.
The Green Tree Medical Dispensary reopened its doors over the weekend, a little less than a month after the operation was originally shut down by police following a compliance check.
Police asked to enter the premises on Saturday, but were denied entry and told to come back with a warrant.
According to an RCMP release, there is no legal mechanism in Canada which allows for medicinal marijuana dispensaries to sell marijuana to the public, regardless of whether or not the purchasing individual(s) have licenses to possess marijuana or whether or not the vendor has a license to produce marijuana.
Businesses and/or individuals operating in contravention of the CDSA and Health Canada regulations may be subject to investigation and criminal charges in accordance with Canadian laws.
West Shore RCMP says it will continue to work with municipal authorities to ensure compliance under municipal bylaws and statutory laws.
The investigation remains ongoing.
