The BC CDC is reporting two new cases of COVID-19 in Golden for the week of July 11 to 17, as cases start to show a slight upwards trend across the rolling seven day average in the province.
It’s an increase from the one new cases the week before.
Revelstoke, Windermere, Kimberley and Cranbrook all reported zero new cases during the week. Fernie reported one.
The BC CDC is still reporting that case counts are at the approximate levels of August 2020, but that test positivity in the province has risen from 1 per cent provincially last week to 2 per cent in their most recent update.
New hospitalizations are declining or stable.

In Golden, the BC CDC is reporting 82 per cent of adults aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine. This is above the provincial average, with the BC CDC stating taht as of July 8, approximately 70 per cent of the province have received their first dose, and 80 per cent of those eligible (adults aged 12+) have received their first dose.
One third of the province has received two doses. In those 12+, two out of every five people have received their second dose.
According to Interior Health, 96 per cent of recent COVID-19 cases in the region are among people who are not fully vaccinated. Of those cases, 26 per cent of cases were in those with one dose, while 70 per cent were in people who have received no vaccine.
The BC CDC is stating that the recent resurgence in COVID cases in England is mostly driven by those under 40 years of age, most of whome are not vaccinated yet.
While the number of hospitalizations and deaths have also recently increased in the UK, it has not mirrored the pattern of previous waves and they remain significantly lower than before at the national level, with some regional variation.
