Two more armed robberies have taken place in Abbotsford.

They occurred within about an hour of each other early Tuesday evening and involved the same suspect, according to police.

However, police are not yet certain whether the same man was involved in six previous armed robberies in the area.

The first incident was at about 4:45 p.m. at the Red Apple Food Store (photo below) at 32354 Marshall Rd. The suspect was wearing a dark hoodie and a ball cap with the rim turned forward.

The second was at the Esso gas station at 32375 Huntingdon Rd. at about 5:40 p.m. In this case, the robber was wearing a white zip-up jacket and had turned the ball cap around.

The suspect was wearing sunglasses and carrying a handgun in both cases. He is described as a Caucasian man, age 20 to 30, 5′ 8″ to 5’10”, and with a thin to medium build.

The physical description is similar to that of the suspect in four previous robberies in Abbotsford and two in Mission. But in those cases, the suspect covered the lower part of his face.

Const. Ian MacDonald said police have obtained surveillance video from Tuesday night’s robberies, and footage shows customers entering the locations while the suspect is present. But the robber waits until they leave before committing the robberies.

Police would like to talk to these customers, in the event that they might have relevant information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest.

Police also have surveillance video from the previous robbery, which took place Saturday at the One Stop Love Shop in the 32800 block of South Fraser Way. That footage captured a possible suspect vehicle – a 1990s to early 2000s domestic, full-sized sedan.

The robbery spree first began on Sept. 16 at a McDonald’s restaurant in the 3200 block of Mt. Lehman Road. Other businesses targeted have included a pizza restaurant, a Subway restaurant, a pub and a convenience store.

Anyone with information is asked to call Abbotsford Police at 604-859-5225.
