Saanich police say they’re having difficulty investigating a stabbing that sent two men to hospital Saturday evening, as neither victim is cooperating with investigators.
Police were called to the gas station at the corner of Tillicum Road and the Trans-Canada Highway where a 24-year-old man was found to be suffered from stab wounds to his chest and arm.
The only information he provided to officers was that an altercation took place in Cuthbert Holmes Park, behind Tillicum Centre, but police found no evidence in the woods. Instead they followed the man’s blood trail to a home in the 3100-block of Tillicum Rd., where it appears the stabbing took place.
Officers in the area spotted a second man, a 35-year-old, suffering from apparent stab wounds to his leg and face at Arena Road and Bodega Way.
Sgt. Steve Eassie said that victim claimed he was injured in a skateboarding accident.
“Neither victim would provide any information as to who the possible suspect to this incident was,” he said. “It would appear that these two are known to one another, and it does not appear they were the ones who inflicted the injuries to one another. Although at this time we have no information as to who this third individual may be.”
Investigators are still unsure of the motive behind the attack, as well, but believe the stabbing was targeted. Both victims were taken to hospital and have since been released.
Eassie said the investigation will continue, despite it being hampered by unco-operative victims.
