A Washington State man was arrested in Victoria last week, when he was found in possession of marijuana and brass knuckles.
Victoria police checked the 20-year-old man in Reeson Park on July 14 at 1:45 p.m. He tried to run away, but a sprained ankle slowed him. He was holding a half-pound of marijuana.
Police learned he was also wanted in his native Everett, Wash. for charges of burglary, theft, forgery and failing to appear in court. He’ll be shipped back over the border once his Canadian charges are dealt with.
New charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a prohibited weapon – brass knuckles are illegal in Canada – were approved against Michael Jelinek. He pleaded guilty to both charges Friday.
