United Way names honourary members

Dick Cavaye helped raise $3 million one year for Greater Victoria charities and has been with the United Way for more than 40 years.

Last week he was named an honorary life member of the United Way of Greater Victoria, a title that recognizes individuals for their volunteer work for the local charitable organization.

Bruce Williams, weather host for A News, also received the honour at the United Way’s annual general meeting Thursday. He’s been volunteering for and donating to the organization so long, he can’t remember his start date, his biography says.

Their inductions bring the total honorary life members to 13.

Also at the meeting, Peter Lockie was elected the new board chair.
