A 70 year old Kamloops man is lucky to have ended up with only a ticket after passing on a double solid line and hitting the transport truck in front of him.
The accident occurred Feb. 16 on Hwy 1 east of Cache Creek. Both vehicles were westbound when the second vehicle, a GMC Jimmy, pulled out to pass and hit the truck in front, as it was making a left turn into the Silva Gro Nursery near Juniper Beach Park.
A 70 year old passenger was taken to Royal Inland Hospital suffering chest pains. Both vehicles had to be towed.
Witnesses advised police that the truck signalled its turn and that the Jimmy had passed them on the double solid before attempting it with the truck. The Jimmy’s driver was given a ticket for passing while unsafe.
Neither he nor the 57 year old Surrey man driving the truck were injured.
