UPDATE: 16 people respond to garage fire in Revelstoke

There were no injuries

The Revelstoke fire department responded to a garage fire on LaForme Blvd. at around 9:30 a.m. on May 5.

Upon arrival, fire crews found heavy smoke and flames pouring from the garage and began a defensive attack. Due to a quick response, the fire was contained to the garage. The garage sustained heavy fire damage and the house received smoke, heat and water damage. The residents were alerted to the fire due to working smoke alarms. Emergency Support Services provided support to the residents.

Firefighters extinguished and overhauled the fire in approximately three hours, with no injuries to any of the 16 responding Fire Personnel. The Fire Department responded with two pumpers, Tender 5, Ladder 6 and three command vehicles.

This fire is currently under investigation.
