UPDATE: The 81-year-old man who had been reported missing has been located and is safe, say RCMP.

PREVIOUSLY POSTED: RCMP are asking the public to help in finding a missing senior, last seen this afternoon at a hardware store in north Nanaimo.

According to a press release, Bob Emre, 81, was last seen at 1 p.m. July 24 at the Home Depot at 6555 Metral Drive. He experiences dementia and given his age and condition, friends and family are worried for his safety and well-being, police said.

While officials do not have a photo available, Emre is described as 5-foot-11, with a slim build and shaggy grey hair. He was last seen wearing a yellow T-shirt and blue jeans and was walking an overweight Jack Russell-basset hound cross which goes by the name Jenny.

Nanaimo Search and Rescue are currently assisting with the search.
