A vehicle drive by a missing Abbotsford man has been located, and his search has now been expanded to include the Fraser River.
Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald said the 1994 black Honda Civic driven by Baljinder Sahota, 41, was found Friday afternoon in a parking lot at Harbour Avenue and Bridge Street in Mission.
“Given the proximity of the vehicle to the Fraser River, there are concerns that Sahota could have ended up in the water,” MacDonald said in a press release.
The Mission RCMP has now joined the investigation, which now involves both a land and water search.
Sahota left his family home Thursday around noon and has not been in contact with any family or friends since.
Police said it is unusual that he did not bring identification, money or belongings with him.
Sahota is 5’9” tall and weighs about 160 pounds. He has short black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white Puma jacket with black track pants and blue runners.
Police are asking that anyone with information, including possible sightings of Sahota or his vehicle (licence plate 344MFR) anytime after noon on July 11, to immediately contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225 or text abbypd (222973).
