An accident north of Quesnel on Highway 97, Thursday morning, claimed the lives of two occupants of an SUV that collided with a semi-trailer, according to an RCMP press release.
The accident, which was reported to RCMP at 10:08 a.m., occurred 25.6 km south of Hixon, near Ahbau Creek.
The highway was closed to traffic in both directions for several hours while emergency personnel attended to the victims. A collision reconstructionist, from Prince George, also attended the scene.
Exact details of the collision have not been released, although RCMP indicated road conditions at the site of the accident were poor at the time of the collision..
