UPDATE: Both Metchosin prison escapee arrested

Dean Allen Benton, 56, and Brian Peter Patrick, 44, have both been found and arrested after escaping from William Head Institution.

Today around 10 a.m. in Colwood Dean Allen Benton, 56, was arrested.

Benton and Brian Peter Patrick, 44, escaped from William Head Institution on Friday evening. Patrick was arrested 11 a.m. on Saturday morning.

UPDATE:

Brian Peter Patrick, 44, was located and arrested on the Galloping Goose Trail near Belmont Secondary School in Langford after from escaping from William Head Institution late last night. He was arrested at 11 a.m. today.

The search for Dean Allen Benton, 56, continues. West Shore RCMP are out in full force looking for the escaped convict using specialized units, Police Dog Services, Island District Marine Section and Air Services.

Benton is considered violent and dangerous and police say he shouldn’t be approached if seen.

“RCMP are certainly very happy to have location one of the men, Brian Patrick. We are still very concerned and actively pursuing the second at-large individual, Dean Benton,” said Sgt. Scott Braes, West Shore RCMP.

RCMP are asking anyone with information to contact the police at 250-474-2264.

Two William Head Institution inmates are on the run from police.

West Shore RCMP were notified at 12:01 a.m. this morning that two inmates had escaped from the prison.

Dean Allen Benton, 56, and Brian Peter Patrick, 44, are suspected to have escaped around 11 p.m., Friday night. Both men are considered violent and dangerous and should not be approached.

RCMP searched the area and where unable to located the males. The area is still being patrolled. RCMP suspect they are hiding in the bushes in the rural district.

Patrick is a white male, six-feet-tall, weighing 206 pounds. He has brown hair, blue eyes and a tattoo on his upper left arm.

Benton is a white male, six-feet-tall and weighs 197 pounds. He has brown hair and green eyes. He also has a tattoo on his upper left arm.

West Shore RCMP and Correctional Service Canada are continuing the investigation. They are asking anyone with any information on either of the escapees to call West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
