A water main break in Trail shut off the taps to the hospital and homes in Sunningdale and East and West Trail on the weekend.
The City of Trail reported the break on Charles Lake Drive Saturday morning at about 11 a.m. and after more than a day located the break and had it fixed by 6 p.m. Sunday.
“The water main repair is complete and the City expects no further water service interruptions,” read a City of Trail press release. “The City of Trail Public Works crew is very appreciative of everyone’s patience.”
The water main breach sent water gushing over the road and into the surrounding area near Gyro Park and caused the road to sink in multiple spots leaving all of East Trail including the hospital, downtown and parts of West Trail without water.
Crews accessed water from the Bear Creek Well to restore service to the hospital, downtown and East and West Trail, but only temporary service to Sunningdale was back on bynoon on Sunday.
Traffic was diverted through the Sunningdale pullout north of Gyro Park as crews worked almost round the clock to find the break.
The city provided updates via email and social media to residents throughout the day and recommended Sunningdale residents fill buckets and containers for toilets, drinking, cooking and other uses in case crews needed to temporarily disconnect again to continue the water main repair.
Crews worked all day Saturday until approximately 2:30 a.m. Sunday. They resumed at 7 a.m. and worked into the evening.
