The Oak Bay pool is closed after leak was discovered Monday.
Both pools, hot tub, sauna, and steam room remain closed at the Oak Bay Recreation Centre, after the main pool was drained to repair a leak.
“Patrons noticed the pool was colder than usual, when we looked into it there was water leaving the pool and new water coming in that wasn’t heating,” said Janet Barclay Manager, Recreation Program Services for Oak Bay.
As of Oak Bay News’ deadline, staff remained uncertain of a reopening date, closing all pool activities until Dec. 7.
“Once we find the leak and repair it we do have to refill the pool and reheat the pool. It’s important to get it done properly and fully,” Barclay said.
In the meantime, pass holders can to use their Oak Bay passes at any municipal recreation pool in Greater Victoria as well as the Victoria and Langford YM-YWCAs.
Aquatics users can check the Oak Bay website at recreation.oakbay.ca or the Recreation Oak Bay Facebook page for updates.
The Juan de Fuca pool will be closed from Dec. 5 for annual maintenance.
